Importing data
Data that you capture and export to Focal Point® can be imported back into System Architect.
To enable data for import, select the Import option in the Data Mapping screen to enable a property, such as “Rank” to be imported back into System Architect. Properties enabled to be imported with the default profile are defined in the Application definition. In the Portfolio Mgt tab of the Application definition, the Rank property (on Page 2 of 2) is updated when you import data from Focal Point®.
The default profile, Application Portfolio Management references the out-of-box report, Application Portfolio Management.rpt, which captures Application definitions from the System Architecture diagram.
Note The Application definitions that you export and import are identified by their GUID. Therefore, if you change the GUID in Focal Point®, the import to System Architect will not work. This also means the GUID must be exported for the import to work.
Modifying definitions to enable them for import
If any definition (data) needs to be ranked, it has to be defined as a property in usrprops in SA and mapped to corresponding predefined element in Focal Point®. If profiles already exist without the above information, they will now need to be edited to include this
Importing data from Focal Point®
You can import data from the main Focal Point® dialog, or from the Focal Point® Explorer tab, which provides the options to Export to Focal Point® and Import from Focal Point® when you right-click a Focal Point® profile. This second method requires that login to the Focal Point® server if you have not already done so. Once you have logged in, then both context menus execute without presenting the SA-FP Interface screen.'
1 Data that you import has to have been exported from System Architect. The same profile that is used to export is used to import the data back from Focal Point®. Export data from System Architect System as described in Exporting data. Note that you must select Import in the Data Mapping screen on the properties that you want to import back to System Architect.
2 From the SA-Focal Point® screen, click the Import data from Focal Point icon. The dialog below is displayed when you have already exported data to Focal Point®. You can export data from one profile and import it using another, as long as the report data is the same.
Note If you select a profile from a previous release, you may need to update the Data Mapping through the SA-Focal Point® screen to specify the properties you want to import.
3 Click Import.
