Adding workspace association
Workspace association is a relationship between a workspace in Focal Point® with an artifact container of an application registered as a Friend in Focal Point®. Workspace association is a prerequisite to create links from Focal Point® to the resources in the OSLC service provider applications.
Before you begin
OSLC service provider application must be registered as a Friend (Outbound) in Focal Point® with “OAuth” authentication type.
Focal Point® must be registered as a Consumer (Inbound) in the OSLC service provider application.
You must be a workspace administrator of the Focal Point® workspace from where the association is to be created to the artifact container of a Friend application.
You must be an authenticated user of the OSLC Friend application.
About this task
You can create links from a Focal Point® workspace to the artifact in the friend application by defining a workspace association in Focal Point®.
Note A back link is created by using the Back Link URI specified for the link type selected for a workspace association.
Procedure
1 Log in as an administrator to Focal Point®.
2 Click the Settings icon Settings icon, and then, from the Configure group, click Workspace.
3 To add a workspace association, click the Add link in the Workspace Association with the Service Provider section. The Associate Workspace with the Service Provider window is displayed.
4 Select the Friend application from the Application list which has all of the applications registered as Friend of Focal Point® with OAuth authentication type.
5 When prompted for authentication, provide the user name and password for the selected application.
6 Select the link type from the Association Link Type list which has the system link types, and the link types defined by the Focal Point® global administrator.
For example: For Rational Team Concert, you can select “Implements Requirement” or “Affected By”. For Rational Requirement Composer, you can select “Referenced By” if you have added the “Referenced By” link type in the Association Link Types window. For details, see Association link types.
7 Select the service provider domain from the Friends Catalog list. The artifact containers for the selected Friends Catalog for which you have access, is displayed in the Artifact Containers list. Select the container from the Artifact Containers list.
8 Click Save to create the workspace service provider association.
Results
A new workspace association is created between the workspace in Focal Point® and the selected artifact of the Friend application. The workspace association is listed in the Workspace Service Provider association section of the Workspace page. You can click the workspace association link to make changes to the association. To remove a workspace association, click the Delete icon.
