Lesson 1: Log in
This lesson describes how to log in to Focal Point®.
Prerequisites
▪ The Focal Point® application server must be running.
▪ Log in as a global administrator. If you have problems logging in with the example user, ask your system administrator for valid login credentials.

To log in
1 In a web browser, type the URL of the Focal Point® login page in this format:
http://server/fp/login
or
https://server/fp/login
For example:
http://rfpserver:8080/fp/login
If you use the Tomcat server that is provided with Focal Point®, you can open the application in a secured environment. For example:
https://rfpserver:8080/fp/login
If you are using Websphere application server and face problems while opening Focal Point®, restart the Websphere application server instance. Here is an example of how to stop and start the application server instance:
From the command prompt, go to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\profiles\AppSrv01\bin
To stop the server instance in which Focal Point® is deployed to server1, run:
stopServer.bat server1
To start the server instance, run:
startServer.bat server1
2 On the Login page: In the User Name field, type admin. In the Password field, type focalpoint.
3 Click Log In.
You are logged in.
