Displaying elements from multiple modules in a tree table
Focal Point Version 7.5 and later supports the display of elements from multiple modules in a tree table. Elements are pulled from multiple modules and arranged in a parent-child hierarchy that is based on the linked relationship between them. The first column of the table is used to show this hierarchy.
About this task
You must have Administrator privileges to set up multi-module display in a tree table. After the tree table is configured, the tree table can be used by other users who have access to the view. Complete the following steps:
1 Click Display the elements in an editable tree table.
2 Click Configure Link Setup.
A new dialog is displayed, with a row that contains three drop-down menus that relate to the second-level module.
3 In the first menu, select a link, link list, or an incoming link attribute.
4 In the second menu, select the corresponding display view to use for displaying elements from the second-level module.
5 In the third menu, select an Add view to use for creating elements in the second-level module. This also links the newly created element with the selected element in the first-level module (in the case of an incoming link attribute, you must have a source attribute defined in order to achieve the linking).
A second row is displayed, with three menus that relate to the third-level module.
6 Repeat steps 3 to 5 to include as many levels as you require.
7 Click Save.
The tree table now displays the elements that belong to the first-level module. The elements that belong to child modules and their attributes are only loaded when the parent element is expanded; this ensures a faster response time for the view. You can view, edit, and create elements from multiple modules based on the views that you have selected in the menu.
