Setting alternative languages or contexts
You can use MDM Label Manager to specify languages or contexts to use as alternatives when no text exists in another language or context.
To set alternatives for a language or context
1 In MDM Label Manager, open the file you want to edit and click the appropriate tab.
2 Do one of the following:
Click Add to add information for a new language or context.
Highlight the language or context in the list and click Edit to update a language or context you have already configured.
3 If you are using the Add dialog:
Select the language for which you want to set alternatives from the list
Select the context from the list or enter a new one in the Custom context field.
The Define alternatives section of the dialog displays all the languages or contexts that exist in the file. If you have previously set alternatives, they appear in the Selected list. You can change this if required.
4 Highlight a language or context in the Available list, and click Add -> to move it to the Selected list.
You can add multiple alternative languages or contexts and put them in order of preference using the up and down arrows.
5 Click OK to return to the main window, and then save the file.
To set a default alternative language or context
You can use the default language or context as the alternative for all languages or contexts in the .mdd file. This does not change any alternatives already set, but adds the language or context to the end of the alternatives list. You can change this for individual languages or contexts in the Edit dialog.
1 In MDM Label Manager, open the .mdd file you want to edit and click the appropriate tab.
In the Automatically add alternative languages or Automatically add alternative contexts section of the dialog, click Use Default. The language or context that is currently set as the default is added as an alternative to all other languages or contexts in the file.
Note For any languages or contexts you subsequently add, you can set alternatives using the Add or Edit dialog box.
2 Save the file.
To remove all alternative languages or contexts from an .mdd file
1 In MDM Label Manager, open the .mdd file you want to edit and click the appropriate tab.
2 Click Clear All. All alternative languages or contexts are removed.
3 Save the file.
