Installing and configuring UNICOM License Server
To use UNICOM Intelligence, you must install UNICOM License Server either:
locally, on the same computer as the UNICOM Intelligence applications or
on a centralized server for the enterprise.
Get the license file
1 To get a UNICOM Intelligence license file, you must provide:
the name of the host computer on which you want to install the License Server
the types and counts for the UNICOM Intelligence licenses that you want to use
if you are running UNICOM Intelligence applications on a standalone desktop: the host name of the desktop instance.
2 Send this information to your Support or Client Services representative. They will generate a license file for you.
3 Copy the file to the computer on which you will install the UNICOM License Server.
Install UNICOM License Server
UNICOM License Server is included in the installation download in a folder called “License Server”. If you do not have a “License Server” folder, contact your Support or Client Services representative.
1 Run the setup.exe program.
The setup program installs UNICOM License Server as a Windows service that is called “ULTLicenseServer”. Its description is “UNICOM License Server”.
2 Use the Windows Control Panel to make sure that the UNICOM License Server has started.
Import the license file
When the License Server is running, complete the following steps to import the license file:
1 Click the Windows Start icon, and then navigate to All Programs > UNICOM Global > License Server > Manage Licenses.
2 At the command prompt, press I to import a new license file.
3 Specify the path to the UNICOM License file.
4 Press y to confirm the import of license file.
The license file is imported.
If you import an updated license file which has different limits or products from the previous version, you must restart the license server (see Controlling UNICOM License Server). If the only change to the license file is a new expiry date, you do not need to restart the license server.
If you have named user licenses, see Managing named user lists.
5 Connect the UNICOM Intelligence applications to UNICOM License Server. See:

Connect to UNICOM License Server for desktop applications
1 Start the UNICOM Intelligence application.
The Licensing dialog box opens. If the license server name has not yet been configured, its default value is:
localhost:7498
2 If you are using a centralized License Server, change localhost to the name of the server that UNICOM License Server is on. Do not change the port number, 7498.
3 Click Connect.
The application connects to the license server, and then displays a list of the registered licenses.
If the application does not connect, and you are using localhost for the license server name, try using the actual name of the computer, even if you are installing locally.
4 Click OK.
The application checks the license.
The license server name is saved for all UNICOM Intelligence applications that are on the same computer in this registry setting:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SPSS\Common\LicenseServer
To set the license server name for all users on a specific desktop, you can set the license server name in this registry setting:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SPSS\Common\LicenseServer
To view or change the License Server name in any of the UNICOM Intelligence applications, click Help > About, and then click License.
Connect to UNICOM License Server for server applications

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SPSS\Common\LicenseServer
Troubleshooting
If UNICOM License Server does not work as expected, restart it:
1 Click the Windows Start icon, and then navigate to UNICOM Global > License Server > Stop License Server.
If the Stop License Server command is not available, open the Windows Control Panel, and then navigate to Administrative Tools > Services > UNICOM License Server.
2 When the license server has stopped, click the Windows Start icon, and then navigate to UNICOM Global > License Server > Start License Server.
Alternatively, use the Windows Control Panel, as described in step 1.
3 If the licenses do not seem to be available, also restart Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) on any server that connects to the license server.
