Which types of variables can you use in a table?
If you have worked through the topics in this section, you might have noticed that all of the variables you have used in the tables up to now have been grid or categorical variables. However, you can also use variables of the following data types, provided the variable has an axis expression or you define some items for the variable in the Edit Axis dialog box.
Numeric
Text
Date
Boolean
You can use the Edit Axis dialog box to band or summarize a numeric variable and to set up elements for text, date, and Boolean variables. However, your work applies to only the current table (and will be lost if you delete the table). Therefore, it is generally preferable to set up the axis expressions in the variables themselves. This means that you can use the axis expression in multiple tables. See Working with variables for more information.
