Editing responses
You can edit response text that you have added to a question, and you can insert new responses, delete responses, and reorder responses in the question. You can also edit responses or subjects that you add to a grid question.
If the subjects or responses come from a shared list, you must edit them in the list itself, not in the question. For more information, see Editing a shared list.
Editing the text of a response
1 In the Routings pane, select a question.
2 In the Design pane, do one of the following:
Double-click the response you want to edit.
Click the response text, and then press F2.
This selects and highlights all of the response text, placing it in edit mode.
3 Edit the text as required, and then press Enter.
Adding a response
1 In the Routings pane, select a question.
2 In the Design pane, click the response above which you want to add the new response.
3 Click Insert > Response/Subject.
The Response/Subject option is not available when the selected response is in edit mode.
A new response line appears.
4 Type the response text.
Deleting a response
1 In the Routings pane, select the question.
2 In the Design pane, click the response once to select it. To select multiple responses, use Shift+click or Ctrl+click.
3 Press the Delete key or click the Delete toolbar button This graphic is described in the surrounding text..
Moving a response
Moving responses in the Design pane changes the order in which the responses are stored in the questionnaire file. If you want to keep the responses in the same order in the file but change the way in which they are displayed in the questionnaire, choose an order in the Response Order field in the Properties pane for the question.
1 In the Routings pane, select a question.
2 In the Design pane, click the response once to select it. To move multiple responses, use Shift+click or Ctrl+click.
3 Right-click the selected responses, and then click Cut.
4 Put the cursor on the response below which you want to place the selected responses and choose Paste from the context menu.
Editing subjects or responses in grid questions
1 In the Routings pane, select the grid question.
2 In the Design pane, select the items you want to edit, and then do one of the following:
To edit, add, delete and move responses, click the Advanced Responses Editor button This graphic is described in the surrounding text..
To edit, add, delete and move subjects, click the Advanced Subjects Editor button This graphic is described in the surrounding text..
Grouping responses into sublists
Similar responses in a response list can be grouped into separate sublists:
1 In the Routings pane, select a question.
2 In the Design pane, select all of the responses that you want to group into a sublist.
3 Do one of the following:
Click Group > Group into Sublist.
Right-click the selected responses, and then click Group into Sublist.
Press Alt+G, S.
The selected responses appear under the new sublist. You can change the name to a more suitable name.
Ungrouping responses from sublists
1 In the Routings pane, select a question that contains at least one response sublist.
2 In the Design pane, select the sublist from which you want to ungroup responses.
3 Do one of the following:
Click Group > Ungroup Sublist.
Right-click the selected sub-list, and then click Ungroup Sublist.
Press Alt+G, N.
The sublist heading disappears and sublist responses display as normal responses.
