System Architect provides new tools and capabilities to help you create models for DoDAF 2.0 viewpoints.
Drawing subtypes using the toolbar
You can enable a capability to display drop downs for subtypes in the toolbar, which allows you to quickly create subtypes with enhanced visual representation of icons for the subtypes. When you draw symbols and their subtypes using the toolbar buttons, the subtype is assigned automatically. The name for the drawn symbol is automatically assigned to the name of the subtype symbol. Additionally, if you have enabled the In Place Name Edit option in the Preferences, the Symbol name dialog box is suppressed.
If the subtype capability is not enabled, which is the default setting, only the top-level types are shown in the toolbar for a given diagram. To choose a subtype, you must draw the parent type and then select the subtype from the SAEdit dialog box. You must select a subtype even if there is only one type to choose. When the symbol is drawn, only the parent icon is available, and the name of the parent type is assigned by default.
Icons for DoDAF 2 tools
You can enable icons for DoDAF 2 tools that enhance representation. When the capability is enabled and ExplorerIconBitmaps.zip file is used, the new icons are displayed in the diagram tools and Explorer.
DoDAF 2 reports
You can enable the capability to use an optional new keyword NAMEONLY. When enabled, the keyword can be used at the report level to force all properties to omit prefixes and keys, resulting in the ability to create enhanced, readable reports for DoDAF2.
The keyword is available at the definition level to control output of all properties. The keyword is also available at the property level to control output of an individual property.
