Creating diagram comparisons
To compare diagrams in your current encyclopedia
1 Click Tools and select Compare Diagrams and In Encyclopedia.
The Compare Models dialog is displayed, where you select models to compare, or compare previously saved models.
2 In the Available diagrams pane, click + in front of the Diagrams node to expand it. Optionally, to select all diagrams of a diagram type at the same time, click the checkbox.
3 Click + on a diagram type, to expand the list of that type (for example, Business Process).
4 Click the checkbox for the diagram (or diagrams) that you want to select.
5 Click Add selected diagrams.
The diagrams you selected are added to Compare these diagrams field. You can check the Save intermediate files for future comparison checkbox to reuse .SVG files that are created for comparisons. In future comparisons, you can click Add next to the Compare these previously saved diagrams field and select the .SVG files from previous comparisons.
6 Click Compare.
The Compare Models Options dialog is displayed.
7 Enable or disable Compare Diagrams Overview (see Visually comparing diagrams).
If you chose Disabled, you can advance to the next step.
If you choose Enabled (the default), select an option from the Property to use for time dimension list. The In Service Date and Effective Date options are temporal properties in symbol definitions. They determine the timeframe for the Time Dimension slider, which simulates the movement of time as you move it across the timeframe. If none of the symbols in the diagrams you select contain values for any of the temporal properties, the comparison output is displayed without the Time Dimension slider.
8 Click Continue.
A new browser window is launched, displaying a comparison of the diagrams you selected.
