System Architect 11.4 automatically upgrades encyclopedias created in System Architect 10.7 and later. Beginning with System Architect 10.3 and later it creates new stored procedures and tables (for history), and makes changes to existing stored procedures in all encyclopedias. Because of this, encyclopedias created in versions 10.1, 10.0, or 9 must first be converted/upgraded for use in with System Architect 10.3 encyclopedia format before they can be automatically upgraded to the current version. As long as a person with a Systems Administrator role or the owner of the encyclopedia opens converted encyclopedia, the stored procedures will be properly created with an owner of dbo.
System Architect provides encyclopedia options, that to become enabled, require encyclopedia schemas to be changed. The sections below describe the standard schema, the workspace schema, and the Optimized XT Reader feature.
Converting encyclopedias to System Architect 10.4 and later
Beginning with System Architect 10.3 new stored procedures and tables (for history) are created and changes are made to existing stored procedures in all encyclopedias.
Modifying macros created with older System Architect versions
This section provides details on converting version 8 encyclopedias (dBASE) to version 9 (SQL Server) and later. It also describes the workflow changes that users who have been using System Architect 8 and before will encounter when using the 9 or later version of the product.
Encyclopedias created with versions of System Architect prior to 9 (which were in a proprietary format based on dBase) need to be converted to SQL Server. If you created Microsoft Visual Basic Application macros, you may need to update them as well (see Adjusting macros that run off menus in System Architect 10.1).
