Module 1: Setting up a workspace
This module describes how to create a workspace and set it up by creating module, elements, attributes, and a view.
Learning objectives
After completing the lessons in this module you will know how to do the following tasks:
Create a user
Create a workspace using a template
Add members to the workspace and assign roles
Time required
This module should take approximately 20 minutes to complete.
Prerequisites
You must have installed Focal Point® and have global administrator rights.
Lessons in this module
1 Lesson 1: Log in
In this lesson, you log in for the first time to Focal Point®.
2 Lesson 2: Create users
A user is assigned certain privileges to do tasks in the application. In this lesson, you learn to create two users, Tim Jeffs, who has the global administrative privilege, and Carl Riggs, who has regular privileges.
3 Lesson 3: Create a workspace
A workspace is a container for modules, views, elements, and a common set of attributes. In this lesson, you create a workspace named “Sample Project”.
4 Lesson 4: Add members to the workspace and assign roles
In this lesson, you add Tim and Carl to the Sample Project workspace and give them the Workspace administrator and Regular Member rights.
