The permanent states for each grid node (MEMBER_ONLINE, MEMBER_OFFLINE, MEMBER_FAILED) are recorded in the system file SYS_GRID_NODES, see SYS_GRID_NODES. The transitory states (NOT_MEMBER, MEMBER_BEING_ADDED, MEMBER_BEING_DROPPED, MEMBER_DISCONNECTING, MEMBER_RECONNECTING) are not recorded in SYS_GRID_NODES but are displayed in other places, for example log files like gridmsg.out, or the output from admin commands.
