Edit Category dialog box
You use the Edit Category dialog box to define and modify the expression for a user defined category. The top part of the dialog box displays the name and label for the category. To open the Edit Category dialog box, select the category on the Edit tab in the Edit Variable dialog box (see Edit Variable dialog box, the New Variable dialog box (see New Variable dialog box), or Edit Axis dialog box (see Edit Axis dialog box, and then click Edit Item in the Specification column.
If you are using the hierarchical view of the data, the expression's level is controlled by the level of the variable to which the item belongs. If you use the Advanced view of this dialog box, you need to ensure that all variables are at this level. See Filtering hierarchical data for more information.
On the left side of the dialog box is the Variable List. Just like the Variable List in the Define tab, this lists the variables in your data set and it has the same features for sorting, finding variables, and changing the columns and types of variables that are displayed. See The variable list for more information.
When you select a variable in the Variable List, the upper part of the right side of the dialog box enables you to define the condition for that variable. This section varies according to the type of variable you have selected. See Defining the conditions for more information.
Below this are the menus and details of the conditions you have already defined. When you are using the dialog box in normal mode, the conditions are displayed on separate lines. You can select a line to change or remove it. See Combining conditions for more information. When you are using the dialog box in advanced mode, the expression is shown in a text box as a raw expression, which you can edit.
